In October 2020, Marie-Ève Jodoin, a 32-year-old entrepreneurial mother and founder of Petite Fée, a company specializing in the creation of eco-friendly clothing, contacted the Centre de couture et aspirateurs Martin with a view to renting the premises adjacent to the Centre de Couture. Marie-Ève already knew the company well, having been a regular customer herself for several years. The idea of acquiring the business came up spontaneously during the meeting with Mr. Martin, and voilà: the takeover project is underway!
“I listened to my heart. I’m passionate about textile arts, I love the atmosphere here, and I want this business to continue to pass on its knowledge and values to future generations.” The idea of grouping her 2 businesses under one roof brings several advantages to the young mother who wanted to separate her personal and professional life.
Marie-Ève was well supported in putting this project together: Serge and Hélène, lawyers, accountants, the CAE and the BDC all pulled together to ensure a smooth transition. 4 months later, Marie-Ève is taking over this 40-year-old Granby institution. “It’s important to me to keep the family essence of the business. In fact, there won’t be any major changes: same name, same look, same products. And Marie-Ève has set herself the challenge of developing new training courses in knitting, crochet, embroidery, sewing and macramé: meditative activities where creativity comes to the fore. These courses provide a forum for exchanging experiences, making the transfer of knowledge and skills easy and enjoyable across all generations. She is also exploring the idea of developing visual art printing on ecological fabrics, a modern and unique idea!
